Afternoon at the MMCA

Another exhibit that I checked out on this side of the ocean. I went with some very lovely friends to check out the Vik Muniz exhibit at the MMCA. It was pretty good, interesting, but definitely not the best thing I've seen in the last couple of months. I may have had too high of expectations for it, as it was highly recommended by a friend who really wanted to see it. Interesting, and I felt the Artistic BS on the wall was really good - I wanted to write some of it down so I could use it later... I can't decide if that's a good thing, or bad thing, not plagiarising or anything, just some 'inspiration' on how to write things that sound more intelligent than the actual piece. The other exhibit was by some other guy (I can't remember his name, and I don't want to remember, or write it down, in case he finds this and sends hate mail). It was HORRIBLE. It looked like a really pretentious project by a first year art star. Oh was it bad, full of books attached to chains, cardboard boxes, and crappy looking basketball hoops made from tinfoil, and I can't forget the buckets attached to all of the tables. Maybe they were there to vomit into after you saw the work. The vomit might have been an improvement.

The woman who taught me art history hates his work. But it is because of her that I appreciate the art history references in his work. I like art that references art history.
